Description
Shift is the colloquial English term for a supernatual phenomena affecting living creatures that have been connected to anotherworld; specifically, it is the trend where sapient lifeforms gain mastery over magic at a higher rate, "shifting" them higher on the classifications of magic over time.
In Witches, this manifests as a gradual increase in control over external magical energies and, eventually, the witch's ascent into a higher form of witch. In Mythics, this manifests as a gradual increase in control over internal magical energies and, eventually, the mythic's ascent into a higher form of mythic (usually a more powerful version of the same creature). It is also responsible for the spread of magic across the population.
In layman's terms, Shift is the process by which the magical community on Earth grows and becomes more powerful over time.
